Pirate power
On 27 July, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" ("Fluch der Karibik 2") is coming to the cinemas, and everyone seems to have pirate fever. But who are pirates really? "A good pirate is a dashing rogue who sails on the high seas," says Matt Marsters, 16, from Collegeville in the US state of Pennsylvania. Matt is a hobby pirate. His friends call him Captain Will. In Spot on this month we talk to other American teens about pirates in history and pirates today. You can also read our pirate special online to learn more about pirates. We tell you about privateers, teen pirates and teens attacked by pirates. We even teach you how to flirt with a pirate. Green New York
This month in "E-mail from New York" Mary Beth tells you about "green" New York. She writes about some of the things the city does to help the environment, and about some of the fun green things you can do there too. If you want to find great gifts for your friends, you can shop at Gomi NYC, where you'll find cool recycled things. If you're hungry, the city also has some great places to find food that's good for you and the environment. Try The Organic Grill in the East Village. If you like outdoor markets, you can also go to one of New York's Greenmarkets for fresh fruits, vegetables and other healthy snacks. Have fun!
